2017, you had your share of heartache, but we made it through and are excited to welcome 2018! About this time last year I planned on taking a short blog break. I needed to refocus and recenter myself after my father passed away. Little did I know that break would turn into a year. During that time, I did all of the things I mentioned in this post, and enjoyed every minute.

My family was closer than ever! I’m so very grateful for that because we had no idea our home was going to be completely flooded by Hurricane Harvey. Our home is all on one level so we lost just about everything. I truly believe that “things are just things” but seeing all of your things drenched in flood water is a lot to comprehend. After the initial shock wore off I realized what I truly missed was “home.” I missed the smells, the memories, and some of the things we had collected over the years. Shortly after the flood God planted a seed in my heart. He wants us to rebuild and use our home to serve Him more. We are going to welcome people over more and serve more. Instead of building walls we are building a bigger table. We have been so cared for during this season and we cannot wait to care for others in the years to come.
We welcome you to follow along as we turn our fixer upper into our dream home! I will share home selection details, renovation updates and hopefully in the near future I will share our finished product!
This picture used to make me sad, but now I see all of the opportunity to make our house exactly what we want.
In 2018 you can expect lots more home decor posts as well as entertaining/party posts! I will occasionally post style ideas but mostly I see Thoughtfully Styled moving in the home and entertaining direction!
Happy New Year, Y’all! Thank you for being a part of our journey!

I love your positive perspective, Jessica! My house flooded several times when I was growing up, and each time my parents made it a positive change for our family. I am super excited to see how God will use this for you and your family. Many blessings in 2018!
